Welcome to the Papworth Respiratory Support and Sleep Centre (RSSC)
The Papworth Respiratory Support and Sleep Centre (RSSC) is a major centre for the provision of ventilatory support and sleep medicine with a national referral base.
The RSSC consultants are Dr Ian Smith, Dr Tim Quinnell, Dr Mike Davies and Dr Nick Oscroft.
There are 29 beds on the main ward and a further 6 in the sleep laboratory, where there is also a research area. The Trust has recently completed a 4 million extension which houses a purpose built outpatient department and an administrative area.
The main services provided in the RSSC are the Progressive Care Programme (invasive weaning mechanical ventilation programme), domiciliary ventilation, specialist oxygen systems and the management of a wide range of both respiratory and non-respiratory sleep disorders.
In April 2012 Papworth Hospital NHS Foundation Trust was commissioned by the National Specialised Commissioning Team to provide the National Ataxia Telangiectasia (AT) service for adult patients.
Information about the management of other sleep disorders can be found in the Sleep Services area of the website, while information about the other Respiratory Support services we provide can be found in the Respiratory Support area.
